Computing Celebration Day! Tuesday 1st April 2014 @ 9am
Hi everyone,
Here is the plan for computing celebration day – thanks for all your input in the staff meeting we had. Please add your comments and ideas here on the blog and just ask if you need any help with prep. We decided it would be best if we start the day with assembly in the top hall to welcome the parents, launch the event and explain what will be going on where and when…
EYFS – espressocoding on laptops, Beebot activities, BusyThings on IWB
Y1 – Beebot activity using positional language in middle hall
Y2 – ‘Unplugged Computing’ and explaining ideas recording on sound buttons
Y2/3 – Code Club to peer teach Earth class a code club project ‘Felix and Herbert’ using Scratch
Y4 – Scratch workshop
Y5 – E-safety drama and Q&A session in top hall (children to create tickets for their show using J2e). Remember your code club children will be working in Earth class.
Y6 – Careers in Computing session for children and parents led by Matt Brown, Code Club volunteer and Computer Programmer. Remember your code club children will be working in Earth class.
Digital Parenting – led by Sue R focus on parenting capacity, supervision, boundaries, parental controls etc. 15-20 min rolling sessions …9.30, 10.00, 10.30.
EYFS Understanding the World – led by Bev. Focus on programs for home use – through LGfL, espressocoding, Mymaths. Rolling sessions at 9.30, 10.00 and 10.30?
It would be great if we could get the children out on the playground bringing the parents in first thing – banners, leaflets etc all created using ICT would be wonderful!!
I look forward to reading your thoughts here …
Thanks!
Jenna
Code Club Evaluation
Hi Code Club,
We want to hear how you feel about Code Club so far. What have you enjoyed most? Is there anything you have not enjoyed? What have you learnt? Is there anything you would like to learn?
Please let us know your thoughts, and if you have any ideas for our learning for the rest of the term.
Thanks!
Matt and Miss Bates 🙂
